Congregational Services
SUNDAY SERVICES
The Sunday Divine
Services are held at 10:00 am. We celebrate the Holy Sacrament of the
Lord’s Supper in Divine Services on the second and forth Sundays as we
recognize that our Lord Jesus Christ comes to us through the blessed
meal of His very body and blood.
Sunday School is
held for children meets at 9 a.m. in which the children are taught the
wondrous works of the LORD, and grow in Christian friendship with
others.
Adult studies are
held on Sundays (9:00 am) and Wednesdays (9:30 am). Opportunities to
ask whatever questions you wish are always offered as we study the Word
of God.
Catechism is held
for children in 7th & 8th grade. Catechesis prepares both for
the reception of the Lord’s Supper and a greater awareness and life in
the Body of Christ.
Holy Baptism is
administered to all, infants to adults, who come to receive in faith the
blessed gift of a new life in Christ Jesus.
Holy Absolution is
offered to all who wish to privately confess their sin to the pastor.
Such confession is held in the absolute strictest confidence.
Wedding ceremonies are held for members of the congregation and for
others who have met previously with the pastor.
Funeral services are
held for members of the congregation and for those who have met
previously with the pastor to make those arrangements.
A Brief Summary of
The Teachings
We teach, believe, and confess . . .
·
We are in desperate need of the redemption won by Christ
through His life and sacrificial death and we confess that this
redemption is a gift of God of which we are unworthy and which Holy
Spirit gives us in the Gospel in Word and in the Sacraments.
·
There is one God in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. We confess the Deity of the Son of God, who became man in
Jesus. We confess the Deity of the Holy Spirit, who works through the
Gospel in Word and Sacrament to bring to us new life in the resurrected
Lord Jesus Christ.
·
God has promised in His Holy Word that He is present in
Holy Baptism whereby we are born from above (by His work) as we are
baptized into the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
·
In Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) Christ’s true body
and blood are present in, with, and under the bread and wine for the
forgiveness of sins.
·
God’s Word, the Holy Bible, is the sole source of God’s
will and is completely truthful and without error. Through the Holy
Ministry of the Church, which is the Ministry of Christ our Lord, the
Lord Jesus Himself serves His people.
·
Christians will enjoy the blessings of life and endure its
hardships while recognizing that their true life is in Christ who shall
come again in glory. God’s will is that all be saved and be joined as
members of the Body of Christ, regardless of ethnicity, social standing,
or whatever other divisions man creates in this life.
The Confession of the
Lord’s Supper
In Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, our Lord
Jesus Christ feeds us with His very body and blood that He sacrificed on
Calvary’s cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Here He joins us to
Himself and we are joined to each other by His body and blood. Any sin,
denial of Christ and His Word, any division or refusal to forgive and
love our neighbor must be first confessed.
Faithfulness to such
a gift from the Lord requires that we examine ourselves in the light of
God’s Word; for St. Paul teaches that a person must receive the
Sacrament with repentance and faith—the unworthy communicant receives
only
judgment (1 Corinthians 11:22-32).
Because the true body and blood of Christ are
received by all communicants—regardless of their faith—and because
communion at Christ’s altar is also a public confession of faith, we are
concerned for the welfare of all who commune at St. Timothy. Out of love
and concern for your spiritual health, we ask visitors from other
denominations and confessions not to commune without first speaking to
the pastor. The divisions in Christendom are tragic but real.
During the celebration of the Sacrament we
encourage you to join in the singing of the hymns and to offer prayers
for the communicants and the unity of the Church.
